My Honest Experience with VBeam Laser for Rosacea (Before and After)

If you’re anything like me, struggling with rosacea, you know how frustrating it can be.

I first became aware of the persistent redness on my cheeks a couple of years ago, and at first it was subtle. But over time, it became a constant source of self-consciousness, making it sometimes difficult to feel fully confident with my facial appearance.

Over the years, I tried different remedies: masking with makeup, refining my skincare strategy, and doing loads of trial and error with different skin products.

But even though my skin was relatively healthy thanks to a consistent skincare routine, the redness lingered like an uninvited guest.

With summer approaching, I wanted to feel at ease with my bare face, in my own skin. To enjoy warm days, spontaneous outings, and bare-faced moments without second-guessing how I looked in candid photos.

So, I booked a consultation with a trusted med spa and scheduled my first VBeam session. After all, what could possibly go wrong?

Here’s my real experience with VBeam Laser for rosacea, and what to expect before and after.

What is VBeam Laser?

The VBeam laser is a pulsed dye laser specifically designed to target vascular skin conditions such as rosacea, facial redness, broken capillaries, and spider veins.

It works by emitting short bursts of light that’s selectively absorbed by the blood vessels in the skin. This targeted heat causes the vessels to collapse and fade over time as the body naturally reabsorbs them, resulting in a more even skin tone.

It’s widely used by dermatologists, and has the bonus of stimulating collagen production, which can lead to firmer, smoother-looking skin over a series of treatments.

For me, I specifically wanted to address the following problem areas: redness, texture, and oily skin.

How the VBeam Laser Treatment Went

I was slightly nervous but walking into the clinic, I felt totally welcomed. The staff were super friendly and made me feel comfortable right away, which helped calm my nerves.

I was given protective goggles, and throughout the process, the treatment provider was very calm and assured me that I was doing great, which made a big difference.

What surprised me most was how gentle the treatment felt. I had expected it to sting or burn. But instead, it felt more like quick, warm snaps against the skin. It wasn’t painful and definitely more manageable than I had imagined.

Immediately following the treatment, my cheeks were very red. That was expected, but still a bit startling and ironic. In addition, my skin felt slightly warm and swollen for a few hours.

But even at that, there was no real downtime as I could resume my usual activities and even felt fine enough to go out later that evening.

The Results: Was It Worth It?

By the next day, a lot of the post-treatment inflammation had subsided. For me, the outcomes I was expecting were reduced redness, tighter skin (from collagen stimulation), and an overall clearer complexion.

And I was impressed to see the results so quickly!

Over the next few days, whenever I caught my reflection, I felt a sense of relief. I noticed that the redness was much less, and I started to feel more confident in my skin. My cheeks also have a more even tone.

My verdict is that it was definitely worth it.

What I Wish I Knew About VBeam Laser (And What I'd Tell My Friends)

I wish I’d known sooner how quick and effective this treatment could be. There’s no recovery time, minimal discomfort, and results you can see within days.

If you're thinking about doing something to address redness or broken capillaries, you should consider this. But as always, consult licensed professionals, such as the good people at Lougheed Laser, to ensure it’s right for you.

A few tips if you’re considering VBeam Laser:

  • Avoid sun exposure before and after treatment.
  • Don’t expect to be photoshoot-ready the same day; there will be temporary redness. But you can resume your normal day-to-day routine almost immediately.
  • Follow post-treatment care instructions closely (like avoiding hot showers or workouts for the first 24 hours).
  • One session is great, but multiple sessions may yield the best results depending on your skin.
