What is the first thought when you hear “facial treatment”?

Whether you’ve tried a medical or spa facial or are new to the skin rejuvenation realm, we are happy to ease you into a skin routine that will leave your skin feeling and looking better as you age.

Here at Lougheed Laser Centre, we pride ourselves on over 25 years of skin care expertise and our dedication to every patient, creating each one a full 360° approach to skin care health and maintenance. This dedication leads us to be selective with the treatments we administer in our clinic, including all our facial treatments.

Microdermabrasion and chemical peels are a great starting point to introduce your skin to a world of corrective benefits that will help you with pigmentation, sun damage, dull skin, uneven tone and texture, or simply to maintain beautiful and glowing skin.

At Lougheed Laser Centre, our skin care experts will assess your skin to determine the type of facial best suited for your skin concerns and long-term goals.

Our physicians and skin care specialists have selected the best medical-grade facials as a stand-alone treatment or combined with other treatments in the clinic. Keep reading to find out what medical-grade facial will suit your skin type and needs.

What is a Medical Grade Facial?

Medical grade facials are administered by medical aestheticians, guided by physician-led protocols. These treatments are carefully formulated and customized to help target different skin concerns and goals. It works by targeting the top layer of your skin (epidermis) and helps it regenerate so that it can grow new cells naturally.

Facial treatments have evolved over the years. What started as a brightening treatment centuries ago have developed into complex procedures such as multi-step hydrafacials and chemical peels to work deep beneath the skin layers.

The results of medical-grade facials will last longer with the consistent use of medical-grade skincare, especially using antioxidant serums and SPF.

Popular Facials for First Timers

Chemical Peel

Chemical peels are customized to your comfort level and skin concerns. The solution can consist of glycolic acid, salicylic acid, a blend of alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), or a trichloroacetic acid (TCA), which is a stronger and deeper medical peel.

These peels are designed to speed up cell turnover, eliminating dead skin cells sitting on our skin and eventually exposing fresh skin cells - creating a brighter and smoother complexion.

In our clinic, we create formulations specific to your skin needs- whether it’s for acne therapy, dull skin, or anti-aging. Our formulas consist of salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol. These active ingredients work synergistically to promote cell turnover safely, effectively, and with minimal discomfort during the treatment.

Salicylic acid targets clogged pores and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) by removing dead skin cells, while resorcinol will address inflamed skin. Finally, lactic acid provides moisture back to the skin during peel application.

There is little to no downtime for this treatment, which is why we also refer to this peel as the “lunch time peel” because you can easily book in during your lunch break and come back to work without looking red, but with all the glow you get from a fresh facial!

If you have a specific skin goal in mind, consistency is key to medical-grade facials. Your clinician will suggest the best interval between treatments, though a monthly appointment is typical for cumulative benefits.

Hydrafacial

Our Luxury Hydrafacial™ is one of the most popular multi-step facial treatments for maximized results- think of plump, hydrated skin with a radiant glow. Hydrafacial works by “vortex” phenomenon that utilizes vacuum-like suction force to suck out dirt and debris from the skin while simultaneously infusing beneficial ingredients like serums, peptides and antioxidants into the skin surface to target your specific skin concern.

As the name suggests, the luxury facial will pamper you thoroughly with the addition of LED lights, lymphatic massage, and skin boosters. We recommend this treatment for those preparing for a wedding or a big social event, such as birthdays, reunions, conferences, before & after travelling, or simply for self-care!

The treatment starts with your clinician cleansing your skin to remove any makeup/dirt. Then it’s time for cleansing with the hydrafacial machine- offering a deeper cleanse to remove dirt/pollution from the skin that manual cleansing can’t get—followed by a mild chemical peel, using glycolic and salicylic acids. This step will help purge the pores, remove excess oil in the skin and help with the next step- extractions!

Extractions will gently clear out the pores through a suction system. Then, boosters are introduced in your skin to address your specific concerns, like dark spots, dull skin, or improved hydration. Followed by the use of LED lights, we finally infuse hydrating emulsions to nourish, moisturize, and protect the skin.

The best part about Hydrafacial is there is no downtime to the procedure! You simply come into our clinic, get pampered, and walk out with an instant glow.

This treatment is best combined with other minimally invasive treatments for pre-rejuvenation, such as Morpheus8microneedling Eclipse MicroPen®, and IPL Photorejuvenation. Consult with your clinician for the best intervals in between treatments. A series of hydrafacial treatments are recommended to notice long-term results.
